Initial Fiscal Year (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025) Balanced Budget

At the Select Board meeting on Monday, January 29, Town Manager Colin Loiselle presented his initial recommended balanced budget for fiscal year 2025 which runs from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. This is a living document and over the next few months as revenue and state aid are ironed out, the document will likely change. The Town continues to utilize a conservative budgeting approach as it relates to estimating revenues and determining what the Town can and cannot afford. This approach has allowed the Town to continue to deliver the same level of service that residents expect without pushing the Town toward dramatic budget cuts or overrides as we are seeing in many of our surrounding communities. Where possible, the Town has also looked at areas for strategic growth to allow its delivery of service to adjust to the growing needs of the community.

Over the course of the next two months, the budget conversation will continue with the Select Board and culminate in a tri-board meeting with the Select Board, Finance Committee, and School Committee on April 8, 2024. In the meantime, the School Department continues to work with the School Committee to develop their Fiscal 2025 budget and the Town continues to lobby the legislature for additional state aid to match the increased costs we’re seeing on all fronts.

The Fiscal Year 2025 initial proposed budget is $47,941,586.38 which assumes a 2.7% increase in the School Dept. budget and represents a 3.7% increase over the current fiscal year budget.
