At their meeting on Monday, October 6, 2025, the Select Board formally established the Fire Station Building Committee which will be charged with overseeing the schematic design, final design, and construction of a new Fire Department Headquarters.

As background, in late 2024, the Select Board selected 250 Middlesex Road as the preferred location for a new Fire Department Headquarters. This is the parcel that currently houses the Winslow School. Prior to making this decision, the Select Board contracted with a public safety architecture firm that conducted various tests on the site to confirm that it would be compatible with a new station. Additionally, the Fire Chief was actively engaged in the process and agreed that this site met the department's location needs and would work well for a new building. In May 2025, Town Meeting authorized $300,000 for the schematic design of a new Fire Station on the site.

Anytime a municipality constructs a new building, a building committee is established to manage the project. A copy of the adopted Charge with specific tasks can be found here.

The charge calls for the Select Board to appoint two (2) residents at large. If you are interested in serving on the Fire Station Building Committee, please submit a thorough letter of interest to Town Manager Colin Loiselle by 4 PM on Thursday, October 16, 2025, by email to cloiselle@tyngsboroughma.gov or by mail to 25 Bryant Lane, Tyngsborough MA 01879. No late applications will be accepted.

The Select Board is expected to review submissions and appoint two residents at their meeting on Monday, October 20, 2025.
