Following the resignation of a member of the Planning Board, the Town of Tyngsborough is seeking letters of interest from residents who are interested in serving on the Planning Board.
The Planning Board is an elected body consisting of five (5) members and one (1) alternate responsible for:
- Guiding community growth by reviewing development proposals;
- Managing land use in Tyngsborough;
- Overseeing subdivision control in Tyngsborough;
- Conducting site plan reviews;
- Acting as the Special Permit Granting Authority (SPGA) for special permits granted under Tyngsborough's Zoning Bylaws.
All large development and even most small development projects in Tyngsborough begin with the Planning Board.
Under state law, when a vacancy occurs in an elected body, the Select Board and the body with a vacancy can jointly appoint a replacement to serve in the vacated role until the next Town Election (May 2026). If the appointed replacement seeks to serve longer, they must pull nomination papers and appear on the next ballot.
Interested residents should submit a letter of interest to the Town Manager's Office, attention Jacqueline Schnackertz by email to jschnackertz@tyngsboroughma.gov or mail to 25 Bryant Lane.
Letters will be accepted through 4:00 PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
